Sharpen scissors – To hone dull scissors, one can simply cut a folded piece of foil several times. This sharpens the blades and leaves the scissors working like new.
Scrub burnt pots – There are few things more frustrating than pots and pans with burnt food caked on them. Soaking the dishes works well, but crumbling up a piece of foil and using it to scrub away the stuck-on food particles works even better.
Keep steel wool longer – Because it is in constant contact with water, steel wool rusts quickly. To preserve this useful tool a little longer, one can line the soap dish or other vessel that holds the steel wool with aluminum foil. This reduces rusting and will keep your steel wool working better, for longer.
