Making Ice Cream with Avocados

Ice cream is one of the most popular desserts throughout the United States and beyond. However, this tasty treat is usually unhealthy, as it is high in fat and full of sugar. Those who enjoy this tasty treat but don’t want to deal with the negative health effects may want to try ice cream made from avocados. This option is slightly healthier than regular ice cream and can be made easily using a simple recipe.

Ingredients

Making 1 quart of avocado ice cream only requires a handful of ingredients. They are:

  • 3 medium ripe avocados
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • ½ cup of heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice
  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

Once all the ingredients have been gathered, the process of actually making the ice cream is a cinch:

  • Slice open the avocados
  • Remove the pits and scoop out the flesh of the avocados
  • Place the avocado flesh into a food processor or blender
  • While blending, add in the salt, sugar, heavy cream, sour cream, and lime juice
  • Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker or freezer
  • Serve in a bowl or cone with any desired toppings
