Easiest Ways to Clean Small Kitchen Appliances

Kitchen appliances that have a lot of nooks and crannies can be a pain to clean. To save some time and energy, your first step should be to clean them as soon as possible after you use them so food doesn’t dry and stick to them. But there are a few cleaning methods you can use to make your small appliances sparkly and fresh with very little time and effort. Consider these tips for cleaning the following small kitchen appliances:

  • Blender – Fill the blender about halfway with hot water and squirt a bit of dish soap in, then blend for 10 or 20 seconds. Rinse it out and let it air dry.
  • Coffee and spice grinders – To remove any leftover pieces of food from the grinder, grind up a slice of plain white bread or a scoop of dry white rice. You can add a bit of baking soda to remove any strong odor.
  • Microwave – Pour some water into a small microwave-safe bowl, then cut a lemon in half, squeeze the juice into the water, and drop the lemon halves in. Microwave for about three minutes, then remove (using oven mitts) and easily wipe the inside of the microwave clean.
  • Electric kettle – to clean out any calcium buildup, boil a mixture of white vinegar and water (about half and half) in the kettle, then empty and rinse.

Forget soaking blades and trays in the sink for hours; these tips should help you get your small kitchen appliances cleaner in no time.
