Creative and Inexpensive Storage Ideas for Items that Tend to Create Clutter
You don’t have to spend a ton of money on storage solutions for everyday items in your home. Sometimes, things that are already lying around your apartment will do a great job at helping you keep your home tidy. For particularly hard-to-organize items, try out the following creative and inexpensive storage ideas:
Use a wine rack as a towel holder in your bathroom.
Keep spools of ribbon on a paper towel holder.
Use a metal desk file box to store small appliances like hair dryers and curling irons while they’re cooling off. You can use non-damaging hanging clips to attach the file box to the inside of a cabinet or the side of a vanity so that you can keep your counter space open.
Hang a shoe organizer near your washer and dryer and store cleaning products, fabric softeners, stain removers, and other items in the pockets.
Organize small, easy-to-lose jewelry in ice trays.
Make wrapping paper rolls easy to get to but out of the way by resting them on two strings or wires attached to the walls just under the ceiling of your closet. Just make sure the strings or wires are smooth enough that they won’t scratch the paper when you take a roll down.
Store fragile holiday decorations in egg cartons or in plastic cups that are glued to a piece of cardboard so you can easily stack them in a storage bin.
Store sheet sets inside of one of the pillowcases.
Keep a magnetic strip in your medicine cabinet and place small metal items like bobby pins, nail clippers, and tweezers on it so they don’t get lost.
