Items to Pack in a Carryon for a More Comfortable Plane Ride
Traveling by plane can be exciting, but it can also be an uncomfortable experience. Between long baggage check lines, crowded terminals, and seats that seem to shrink every year, it’s common for passengers to feel cramped and overstimulated. Luckily, there are a number of items flyers can pack in their carry-on bags to help make their journey a lot smoother, such as:
- A neck pillow – Travelers who plan on getting a few winks in should bring a neck pillow so they can rest easily and without fear of leaning on the person next to them. Inflatable neck pillows can help save space in carry-on bags.
- Food from home – Airline food is notoriously bland, and many airlines aren’t offering complimentary meals anymore. Anyone traveling via plane would be wise to bring a few of his or her favorite snacks, or to at least grab something from the food court before boarding.
- Noise-canceling headphones or ear plugs – Blocking out some of the noise in the cabin can help flyers feel like they’re in their own oasis. If there’s a baby on the flight, either of these options could turn out to be quite handy.
- An easy read – A good book that is easy to follow can make the time pass quickly. The same goes for a movie or any other activity that lets passengers mentally escape for a little while.
That said, anyone traveling by plane may want to consider packing light. The more stuff that is packed into a carry-on, the less leg space will be available, and especially on long flights, adequate leg space is crucial.
