Fall-Off-the Bone Baby Back Ribs Recipe

Baby back ribs are a delectable and savory Southern favorite that can be found at barbecues and cookouts throughout the country. While this summertime classic is typically associated with the grill, baby back ribs can actually be made without messy charcoal or expensive propane. Anyone craving barbecue ribs can cook them up in the oven right from the comfort of their kitchen. Baked baby back ribs are just as good – if not better – than their grilled counterpart.

To make this tasty dish and feed around four people, rib lovers should gather a rack of baby back pork ribs, 1 cup of barbeque sauce, and spices for a dry rub (typical spices include ancho chile powder, white and brown sugar, ground cumin, paprika, dry mustard, and cayenne pepper). After grabbing these ingredients, rib lovers should:

  • Preheat the oven to around 250 degrees F

  • Mix the spices together in a small bowl to combine the dry rub

  • Put the rack of ribs meat-side down on aluminum foil and poke several holes using a fork

  • Apply dry rub coating to all sides of the ribs

  • Fold the foil in to create a sealed “basket”, place on a sheet pan, and place in the oven for 2 hours

  • Bake until cooked, remove the ribs, and increase the heat to 350 degrees F

  • Drain excess juice and coat ribs with barbeque sauce

  • Place ribs back in the oven, meat side up until crispy on the outside

  • Remove, let cool, cut into slices, and enjoy!
