Recovering from Jet Lag at Our Apartments in Mount Dora, Florida
If you’ve ever traveled abroad or spent a significant amount of time in another time zone, you’ve probably experienced the phenomenon as known as jet lag. Jet lag results when your body’s natural sleep cycles are disturbed by changing time zones, with the normal hours of daylight conflicting with your body’s typical sleep patterns. While these effects vary from person to person, they typically become more pronounced the farther away a person travels, so a trip from Florida to Tokyo and back would produce a much more noticeable effect than a roundtrip from Florida to Seattle.
If you've recently returned to your apartment at The Quarters after a long-distance trip, you may be right in the middle of an annoying bout of jet lag. However, there are several simple tricks that you can use to help get your body back on schedule. For example:
Drink a lot of water, and cut out any stimulants, like caffeine or anything containing large amounts of sugar. Long periods of travel can cause dehydration, which can make jet lag worse, as can excess stimulants that will further throw off or alter your sleep patterns.
Avoid taking naps, especially during daytime hours when you would not normally do so. If you are exhausted and have to take a nap, limit it to a maximum of two hours at a time. Similarly, force yourself to go to bed at a normal hour, and stick to that same time. Going to bed and waking at the same time repeatedly will help you get back on a normal schedule much more quickly.
Expose yourself to sunlight, and get outdoors as often as possible. This will help you more rapidly get accustomed to the daylight hours where you are.
If you use these tips at our apartments in Mount Dora, Florida, you should be back to your normal hours quickly.
