Practicing Good Oral Hygiene in Our Apartments in Mount Dora, Florida
Do you remember being a child and not wanting to brush your teeth before going to sleep? Perhaps also you were afraid of visiting the dentist. As children we wanted nothing to do with oral hygiene, but as adults we understand the importance of it. Our day-to-day stresses and hectic, busy schedules can make it difficult to remember to brush or floss every day. Getting into a habit of practicing good hygiene every day at our apartments in Mount Dora, Florida, though, can make those visits to the dentist a lot more tolerable.
Follow these tips to practice good oral hygiene:
- Brush your teeth two or three times a day. Ideally, brushing your teeth should be done in the morning, early afternoon, and before going to bed at night, but sometimes busy schedules only allow for two brushings a day.
- Use a tongue scraper to scrape plaque from your tongue. Halitosis, or bad breath, is typically caused by a buildup of plaque and bacteria on the tongue.
- Floss your teeth after brushing. Plaque stuck between your teeth can build up and lead to gum disease or gingivitis. Most dentists will tell you that flossing is as important – or even more important – than brushing.
- Rinse your mouth with mouthwash at least once a day. Brushing and flossing help keep your teeth clean, but there is much more to your mouth than just your teeth, and mouthwash helps to fight and kill plaque and bacteria that build up elsewhere. Use a mouthwash that contains fluoride, and/or one that is designed to promote the health of your teeth.
